Led by the new single ‘Shaky Hands’, the album is an utter delight to listen to. FOXTROTT exudes a rare confidence in her music, characterised by her rebellious beats, forthright lyrics and playful synth–pop melodies. A self–taught singer, songwriter and producer, Delorme’s sound is packed with eccentricities and oozes style.
•’•   ‘Driven’ is the bold album opener, filled with lavish electronic chords and a generous helping of attitude. The track sets the tone for the collection, which boasts simple, catchy hooks and experimental rhythms throughout. The slightly haunting ‘Brother’ is incessantly catchy, featuring punchy drum beats, atmospheric oohs, electro chords, and of course, Delorme’s distinctive vocal overlay. The trance–like undertone of this track renders it completely magical.
•’•   ‘Patience’ is the quintessential electro–pop ballad, an eclectic mix of robotic synths and love–sick vocals, fused together by stomping drum work. ℗ 2015 One Little IndianΞ♠Ξ   FOXTROTT is the sole musical domain of one Marie–Helene Delorme — a self–taught singer, songwriter, producer and beat–maker from French–speaking Montreal. Ξ♠Ξ   Originally releasing remixes and supplying beats for other local talents, she broke cover as FOXTROTT with her 2012 debut, ‘Shields’, an emotionally arresting three–track EP. “I was making a lot of beats and stuff, but I needed to express something deeper’” she says of FOXTROTT’s early gestation.

The songs on this record are very personal, almost like an autobiography of my young adulthood. Exploring themes like love, separation, family, spirituality, doubt, fear — I wrote it in the most emotionally earnest way possible, as a way to heal, and also hoping that it would resonate. I strongly believe we, human beings, are not different, and often, the hyper–personal touches the universal.”
