Lonely The Brave — Things Will Matter (Redux) (Nov 10, 2017) |
Lonely The Brave — Things Will Matter (Redux) (Nov 10, 2017) ≡→ The alt~rock band Lonely The Brave have revisited their second full length Things Will Matter to make alternative, revamped and evolved versions of the songs. Heavy~hearted and melodic alt~rock that will appeal to the fans of Mallory Knox, Deaf Havana, Fatherson and Twin Atlantic.
≡→ Melody and heart will always be at the centre of what they do, but Lonely The Brave are here to prove once again that they will always to continue to do things that other bands can’t. At their most anthemic, or at their most vulnerable, Lonely The Brave remain an inarguably important act. Where they head for the next album remains to be seen, but you know that if they can keep their heads we will be rewarded with another record on their own terms that will always stand proudly apart from the rest.
≡→ It was released in 2016, but after bringing out the Victory Edition of their debut The Day’s War, the UK outfit have decided to do something similar on the follow~up and will launch Things Will Matter (Redux) on November 10 via Hassle Records.
≡→ It will feature reinvented material from the record along with new track Things Will Matter, which didn’t make it on to the original album.
≡→ To mark the announcement, Lonely The Brave have issued a video for the new song, along with an alternative version of Rattlesnakes. Both can be found below along with the full tracklist and cover art.

≡→ Lonely The Brave have kept themselves tucked away the last few months revisiting their 2016 release Things Will Matter, and now they’re ready to release their reworked and extended version. Lonely The Brave have always strived to be different from other bands out there, and recreating their music with a totally different genre and vibe to it is definitely one of the ways to do that in the release of Things Will Matter (Redux).
≡→ Starting off with title track ‘Things Will Matter’, we’re met with gentle guitar melodies and the soft vocals of David Jakes echoing in the studio. It’s a compassionate, vulnerable start to the album. We swiftly move onto ‘Black Mire (Redux)’, the original album’s lead single, which combines strong drums and atmospheric bass. The vocals are distorted in production, adding further to the track’s distant atmosphere .
≡→ ‘Rattlesnake’ blends smooth piano and soft rhythms, and such a limited amount of instruments emphasises the vocals, making the lyrics seem even more powerful. ‘Dust & Bones’ picks up the pace; guitars play more of a part with this track. This number is more just fleshing out the skeleton of the original version, adding depth with the inclusion of violins.
≡→ Nearing the end of the album, ‘Tank Wave’ contains a mixture of layers which can draw an audience in instantly with the powerful ambiance. The soft, continuous synth throughout really keeps you mesmerised, and it builds to the climax of the song which ends as a stand~out tune – you won’t be able to stop listening to this one! The album finishes with ‘Jaws Of Hell’, again harmonising the melody behind vulnerable lyrics with softer instruments. The unusual guitar in the background also makes this a unique delight on the album.
≡→ It’s clear that Lonely The Brave have put a lot of effort into this version of their most recent album. We think fans would love to hear the recreations of these songs — not to mention a bonus track in there too! Things Will Matter (Redux) really expose the vulnerability of this band, and prove what a talented bunch they are.

About Lonely the Brave
≡→ Lonely the Brave formed in Cambridge, U.K. in 2009 when vocalist David Jakes, guitarist Mark Trotter, bassist Andrew Bushen, and drummer Gavin Edgeley all fell together after their respective bands either split or ended. With a love of groups such as Pearl Jam and the National forming their bond, the four~piece set about recording and touring straightaway. A self~released EP, Backroads, appeared in 2010 and a tour of the U.K. followed, seeing them receiving praise for their intense live performances. ≡→ Building their following organically, the group soon started to earn plaudits from the likes of Kerrang! magazine and BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, and in 2013 announced that they had signed to Hassle Records. A re~recorded version of Backroads was released in the October of that year after a summer of festival gigs, including a performance at the prestigious Reading Festival and support slots with the likes of the Deftones and Bruce Springsteen. Entering the studio with Mark Williams at the end of 2013, the group set about recording their debut album, The Day’s War. While recording as a four~piece, the group realized that playing the songs live would need an extra guitarist, and Ross Smithwick joined the band in early 2014. With the album originally scheduled for a June release, it was pushed back after the group announced that they had signed an international deal with Columbia Records. After a three~month delay, The Day’s War was released, entering the U.K Top 20 album chart while garnering positive reviews across the board. The band returned to the studio in 2015 with producer Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A.) to record their sophomore release, Things Will Matter. Preceded by the singles “Black Mire” and “What If You Fall In,” the album was slated for an early~2016 release. ~ Rich Wilson

”“★λ★”“ Despite their successes, Lonely The Brave have never been like their peers, never calculated the game in quite the same way they have, never shot from the same angle. From their stage dynamics, to their influences, they have always been proud of their differences and in what has staunchly set them apart from the others who have now fallen by the wayside.
”“★λ★”“ They followed the release of their critically acclaimed debut “The Day’s War” with an extended version including several Redux tracks that reinvented material rather than simply stripped it back and they follow this theme of insular reinvention again now on a full Redux album version of their sophomore record “Things Will Matter”. Melody and heart will always be at the centre of what they do, but Lonely The Brave are here to prove once again that they will always to continue to do things that other bands can’t.
