REVIEW
By ALEX GALLACHER, 14 MARCH 2014
≈   New York-based songwriter, composer, and arranger Will Stratton has a new album out on Talitres (28 April 2014) titled Gray Lodge Wisdom. The title track which you can hear below features a guest verse from Will’s good friend Tamara Lindeman (aka The Weather Station).
≈   Will had a tough time of it not too long ago when he was diagnosed with stage III testicular cancer. A great benefit compilation was released last year called If You Wait Long Enough: Songs Of Will Stratton, the proceeds from which went towards the medical bills from his treatment. Needless to say it’s great to see him back with a new album.
≈   Another very worthy mention is that he recently opened for the legendary Gary Higgins…Yes, that Gary Higgins who released the 1973 psych-folk masterpiece Red Hash, a personal favourite…you can’t beat Down on the Farm.
≈   I admit I love seeing other peoples music lists especially when they’re a music maker so I shamelessly pillaged this from his blog:
Will’s 13 top records of 2013 were:
13. Bill Frisell — Big Sur
12. Son Lux — Lanterns
11. Zachary Cale — Blue Rider
10. Nadia Sirota — Baroque
09. Steve Gunn — Time Off
08. Deafheaven — Sunbather
07. Cass McCombs — Big Wheel and Others
06. William Tyler — Impossible Truth
05. TWVE — All Material
04. The Field — Cupid’s Head
03. Bill Callahan — Dream River
02. Dawn Of Midi — Dysnomia
01. Jon Hopkins — Immunity

(source: www.telerama.fr )

Artist Biography by Andrew Leahey
≈   A self-professed disciple of Nick Drake, California native Will Stratton launched his songwriting career as a teenager. Having taken piano lessons since the age of four, he later picked up the acoustic guitar and began composing before he entered high school. ≈   Several years later, Stratton found himself attending college (where he pursued a degree in Music Composition) while playing shows in support of his debut effort, 2007's What the Night Said. Sufjan Stevens made an appearance on the album, thus strengthening Stratton's connection to the songwriters who influenced his writing. His second album, No Wonder, appeared in 2009.
