Francisco The Man — Bodies In The Sun (August 4th, 2017)

Francisco The Man — Bodies In The Sun (August 4th, 2017)

Francisco The Man — Bodies In The Sun (August 4th, 2017)   Francisco The Man — Bodies In The Sun (August 4th, 2017)→↔★   Pronikavý rock je v tomto obraze živý, šumivý, slunečním světlem pohlazený a dobře prokrvený. Dlouhou dobu se už pár kapel pokoušelo zahrát podobné věci, ovšem s absolutní sterilitou. Ovšem 10~ti písňový zážitek Bodies in the Sun se zpěvem Scotty Cantina všechna úskalí tohoto stylu objíždí, v nebezpečném prostoru se pohybuje účinně, i když občas paradoxně zajíždí do britské nostalgie. Cesta z Riverside do LA, CA přinesla nejen nový přírůstek v podobě kytaristy (Brock Woolsey), ovšem i jistější zprávu a zvuk, takže už nepotřebují použít drona, aby doručil burritos z jídelního kamionu studentům.

→↔★   “I’ll Feel Better” is a tight, breathless, indie rock romp that demands repeat listens. The fantastic indie rockers are back with another great record to blast you through the end of summer. The album has that great FTM beat running through most tracks with a solid garage rock grit and riffs to keep ya coming back for more. Another one to add to the collection.Fotka uživatele Ben Tais Amundssen.Location: Los Angeles, California, USA

→↔★   Two and a half years removed from the release of their debut album “Loose Ends,” Francisco the Man are back, still proudly flying indie~rock’s flag. Which, in the case of the L.A. quartet’s new single “I’ll Feel Better,” is buffeted by the winds of stormy guitars and a relentlessly gusts of bass. It’s the first song from “Bodies in the Sun,” the second album from the quartet of singer~guitarist Scott Cantino, bassist Néstor Romero, multi~instrumentalist Brock Woolsey and drummer Abdeel Ortega. It’s a little bit Silversun Pickups, a little bit Band of Horses and a lot of crash~rattle~bang — crushingly high~end to match its high spirits. The release date for “Bodies in the Sun” is still TBA. Stay tuned to your local channels.
→↔★   Self~releasing an album is no easy feat. But LA’s Francisco the Man thrive on their DIY roots, without the pressure of record label bullshit. Their sophomore album Bodies in the Sun drops August 4th, and today we’re streaming an exclusive preview right here for your thirsty ears. Formed during their college years in 2007, Francisco the Man “is the kind of indie rock music made for the purist set.” Stripped down yet resonating with frenetic energy, their sound teeters between a Deerhunter vibe to Here We Go Magic. Plus, the fact that the band engineered, produced, and mixed the album themselves always resonates on the final product. So listen up. — Maya Eslami
→↔★   After forming in college in 2007, LA~based Francisco the Man have been playing the kind of indie rock music made for the purist set. You won’t find much other than two guitars, bass, drums, maybe a keyboard, but their frenetic energy lends a distinct touch to an otherwise familiar sound.
→↔★   After the release of the their 2014 Fat Possum debut Loose Ends, which received plaudits from Pitchfork, Stereogum and others, the pressure to sell records amid an industry~wide shift to streaming services eventually found the band without a label.
→↔★   It took roughly seven years, the loose formation of an instrumental rock band, a debut EP, additions and subtractions, a roller rink and a near death experience to arrive at Francisco The Man. Following a two~year hiatus beginning in 2008, the band relocated from Riverside to Los Angeles, CA, bringing along a new addition, guitarist Brock Woolsey. With the help of Small Plates Records, they released two 7″s, In the Corners and Tiger.
→↔★   Their debut LP, Loose Ends, was released in Fall 2014 and gives its audience a more encompassing look at Francisco the Man. With each song, more and more honesty permeates through the lyrics. “I think the LP shows a broader, more realized, version of Francisco The Man,” Scotty Cantino explains. “You can’t do that with a single”.
→↔★   From the beginning of the first track, questions and anxieties are the substance. With each subsequent verse and track, they seem to find the answers in themselves. “Even though I write the songs, we really hash them out… Arrangements and parts are formed on the fly. It’s constant improvisation,” Scotty says. Each song comes in with a certain message, but with a sound that blends garage rock, new wave, and shoegaze, the message becomes enveloped in something complete different.
