¶     Rory Garforth & Adam Myers are the songwriting partnership at the helm of a folk/acoustic collective, involving musicians from all over the UK. With their base in South Yorkshire Garforth & Myers provide “lushly brewed melodious folk hypnosis; a multitude of and a masterclass in well crafted songs and understated delivery”. After initially meeting whilst involved separate musical projects Rory & Adam started working on material together, this would form the basis of a selection of demo’s which attracted the attention of producers Keith Angel and Andy Seward; perhaps best known for their work with Jon Boden, Kate Rusby, Martin Simpson, John Tams, Chris Drever et al… Work started on putting together a self-financed album after months of writing, planning and preparation and features the talents of Devon based Nick Wyke and Becki Driscoll layering up lush string arrangements which has become integral to the sound. With additions from Magazine’s Dave Formula on electric piano and Hammond, Andy Seward on double bass and Keith Angel on drums and percussion the result has been one that all involved can be proud, of reminiscent of artists such as Pentangle or John Martyn. The resulting album is set to be release later in the year however the initial release is a four track EP entitled 'Bonfires'.                      PRESS:
¶    “What is most impressive about this album is the lyrical content. Sometimes cute, sometimes dark but always thoughtful and striking, this band has got an incredible talent for keeping their listeners hooked to every word with the soft, intricate music accompanying the words beautifully.”    Carly Goodman — For Folks Sake
¶    “This is very refined stuff. They clearly take a fairly high–minded approach to things, and it pays off. ”    Ian Parker — For Folks Sake
¶    “Using only the basic ingredients of guitar and double bass, they create a rich, warm sound, while their intertwined vocals have a lovely effect on the songs.”    Ian Parker — For Folks Sake
¶    “This is a lovely EP – full of warm voices, quiet melancholy and occasional sulky, sultry moodiness.”    Alice Sage — For Folks Sake
¶    “The pair’s voices dovetail nicely and their collaborative approach to writing serves them well.”    Tom White — For Folks Sake
¶    “It’s immediately obvious upon first hearing these songs that they’ve been treated to some tender loving care both in their rich arrangements, their orchestrations and in the attention to detail to production. All four songs are written jointly by both Garforth and Myers and are set against an atmospheric backdrop, especially on The Past, with Dave Angel’s intuitive guitar accompaniment.”    Allan Wilkinson — Northern Sky
¶    “Bonfires is absolutely beautiful — starting slow and hum–drum, gathering pace, then crashing into the big choruses. I have been singing it to myself for days.”    Alice Sage — For Folks Sake
¶    “Their acoustic fare is very well arranged and expertly written.”    Jonathan Leonard — Leonard’s Lair
¶    “Rory Garforth and Adam Myers are a ..Barnsley.. based singer/songwriter duo who, with a little help from their friends, have produced a delectable EP. The moment this EP starts, you get drawn into their style of music. ‘Bonfires’, the opening and title track, has a not over elaborate arrangement which allows the story to move effortlessly along. ‘Mirrors’, ‘The Past’ and ‘Lighthouse’ make up the rest of the EP and all can be heard on their MySpace page. ”    Ken — Ken’s Folk Page
¶    “Magazine’s Dave Formula appears on several tracks while producers Andy Seward and Keith Angel, whose credits include some of the leading names in contemporary folk, also take up their instruments to contribute to an eminently listenable sound.” Tom White — For Folks Sake
¶    “Each one [song] contains a memorable melody and that is the most striking and important point to the EP.” Jonathan Leonard — Leonard’s Lair
¶    “A very new fresh sound. Stimulating guitar and vocal work. ”    Folk Blues & Beyond — Folk Blues & Beyond
¶    “All the songs are extremely well written and provoke a great deal of thought. I always tell my non folky friends to listen to the words. This is particularly important here because of the quality of the writing. But writing is one thing, performing is another. Garforth and Myers have added to their writing skills with a performance that insists that you listen and enjoy the stories. ”    Ken — Ken’s Folk Page
¶    “Acoustic music like this and of this standard will always straddle the border between folk, pop, jazz etc and may even be popped into a new category altogether, whether it likes it or not. Cross pollination is always good though, especially if it draws audiences in from several directions. These particular ears are keen to hear more from the duo in due course.”    Allan Wilkinson — Northern Sky
¶    “Garforth & Myers — Bonfires (EP) As soon as I heard the opening bars of ‘Bonfires’... I knew I was in for a real treat. The chilled out track — packed with strings, harmonies and a relaxed beat throughout — gently draws you in and sets the tone for the four–track EP.”    Jenny Smith — Counterfeit Magazine
