Description:
≡♠   Taking inspiration from the songwriting styles of Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Scott Hutchinson (Frightened Rabbit), and William McCarthy (Augustines), Seattle singer–songwriter Joshua Baez creates music that is honest and eloquent. Though dark at times, Baez’s themes suggest a more uplifting, inspiring lesson, and that is made clear through his use of lyrics and music, and the dance the two perform throughout his songs.

ABOUT
≡♠   My name is Joshua Baez, and I am a singer/songwriter from Bellevue, WA. My music is influenced by bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, Iron and Wine, and Bon Iver, and blends the genres of Alternative Rock, Indie Pop, and Singer/Songwriter, giving an indie backbone to a folk–rock embodiment of emotive lyrics, powerful melodies, and music that truly makes you feel at home–intimacy blended with eloquence.
≡♠   I’m very passionate about music because I believe that music is a language that everyone speaks. We’ve all felt weak, helpless, alone, but with music, you suddenly don’t feel so alone. I want people to be able to connect with my music, to be able to relate to it. I want them to know that even when life is hard, it will get better. All you have to do is step back and breathe.
≡♠   I’m so incredibly thankful for all those who have helped support me in the past to get me to where I am today, and I’m also very thankful to all of my new supporters and fans! And especially, my parents  they’re my biggest support. Without everyone’s love, I honestly wouldn’t be here right now.
Newest blog:
≡♠   Hey guys, so it’s been a long, long time since my last blog post, but this is something that’s been on my mind a lot, recently, and I wanted to write something about it because it’s something that literally every musician is going or has gone through before, and that’s the question of how to keep going.
≡♠   When you start off with anything really, the beginning is always the hardest part.  You’re new and inexperienced, and no matter what you do, you feel like you’re never being recognized for what you accomplish.  You feel like there’s this barrier that’s nearly impossible to break through, and that’s completely normal.  Despite being in the music scene for around 2–3 years, I still haven’t really broken out of this cage.  I’m not even close.
≡♠   But the difference between those who break that wall and those who don’t is one key factor: perseverance. Persistence. Determination. It’s that voice inside that tells you to keep going, to keep pushing through.
≡♠   The sad thing is that many musicians stop before they’ve even managed to get their name out there.  They expect too much far too early in the game to even make the slightest impact outside their friends and family.  So they stop.  They feel unmotivated to continue and lose that drive and momentum because they’re not getting the response they expected.
≡♠   I’ve been through that, hell, I’m constantly going through that — the feeling of disappointment and a lack of support is pretty normal, but I keep going.  Because sooner or later, if you continue to push ahead, you will eventually break that barrier.
≡♠   So the key to keep going as a musician is determination.  You have to want it.  And you can’t stop just because you’re not getting the recognition you want.  Keep moving, keep progressing.  Like a shark. With musical talent. (Joshua Baez)
