Editorial Reviews
Ξ★  On Encore, French jazz singer Virginie Teychene stands on the edges of collective memory and draws us into an unexpected encounter with our own emotions. Partnered with a quintet, she takes us by the hand and urges us to dance, over and over again, on this loving tribute to chanson singers Claude Nougaro, Barbara and Alain Bashung.
Ξ★  Et c était bien... What do songs say? If music expresses things and language sings them, the role of songs is to reveal the music of language! Nougaro, Barbara and Bashung all knew a little about this... With this album, which is mostly devoted to them, Virginie Teychené stands on the edges of collective memory and invites us to an unexpected encounter with our own emotions. With the backing of a quintet which is fully on her side, she takes us by the hand and urges us to dance, over and over again, with those who tried before she did to remember the name of the petit bal perdu...

Ξ★  Virginie Teychené was born in Draguignan, (France — Var). At 20, while studying law and literature, she started singing professionnaly. Fond of Jazz music and always interested in singers, she listened to everything she could find, enabled her to acquire a self–taught yet sound vocal technique and a large an deep knowledge of African Amercian vocal art. In 2003, she decide to devote herself entirely to her passion for jazz. She then joined the Workshop Experience (WE) wich enabled her to meet a large number of jazz musicians. Through many projects and nourished with numerous influences, she developed a personal way of introducing themes and improvising, as an instrumentalist and she followed the traditional course of any Jazz musician. During the Jazz Festival of La Seyne–sur–mer, she drew attention of critics. Her first album, Portraits, recorded with musicians from the Workshop Experience was issued at the end of 2007. It is acclaimed by the critics, in France, Europe and the US. In summer 2008 she performed on prestigious Jazz Festivals; during the prestigious Inernational
Vocal Jazz Competition in Juan–les–Pins, she wins the “Prix du Jury” and the “Prix du Public”. I Feel So Good her second album, will be issued in may 2010. Two famous French musicians, Jean–Pierre Arnaud (drums) and François Chassagnite (trumpet) have joined the initial team : Gérad Maurin (arrangements, bass) and Stéphane
Bernard (piano). The album shows that Virginie is not only a singer, but also a real interpreter of songs, a musician, a scat performer, a genuine Jazzwoman.
