≡ The keenly-awaited second album from Montreal-based soul singer Bobby Bazini is entitled Where I Belong. The happy answer for BB is at the top of the charts, as that is where the record has immediately gone. The potential of Bazini was shown by his 2010 debut record, Better in Time, one that spawned the hit single "I Wonder" and helped him snare two JUNO nominations the next year. He got the big label treatment and budget this time, allowing him to record in L.A. with famed producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell) and such legendary players as Booker T. Jones. He rose to the challenge with well-crafted songs that feature soul and roots elements and showcase his husky yet warm voice. We especially dig the full-blooded opening track, "Cold Cold Heart" and the duet with the ubiquitous Serena Ryder on Bee Gees classic "To Love Somebody". :: http://www.newcanadianmusic.ca/
≡ "Quebec’s Bobby Bazini offers up a generous dose of soul, blues and more with his latest record Where I Belong. The potential of Bazini was shown by his 2010 debut record, Better in Time, one that spawned the hit single “I Wonder” and helped him snare two JUNO nominations the next year.
≡ He got the big label treatment and budget this time, allowing him to record in L.A. with famed producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell).
≡ Backed by Jay Bellerose on drums and the mighty Booker T Jones on organ, Bazini’s album is a refreshing change of pace from the seemingly endless glut of mindless pop drivel. Whether he is delivering a killer cover of the Bee Gees “To Love Somebody,” inspiring a Gospel revival on “Cherish Our Love” or pouring his heart and soul into songs like the title track and “Down On My Knees,” Bazini’s charm and talent flows from every note on Where I Belong."
≡ Un album folk soul tres agréable a l'écoute.
Bio:
≡ Quebec based, soulful platinum singer-songwriter Bobby Bazini will release his sophomore full-length release, Where I Belong May 27.
≡ Since signing to Universal Music Canada in 2013, Bazini has been working hard on the follow-up to his hugely successful platinum-selling independent debut album, Better In Time (2010) that delivered his smash-hit “I Wonder”.
≡ Last Fall, Bazini took the trip of a lifetime when he grabbed his guitar, packed up his car and left a small Montreal suburb for the Golden State to record with legendary producer Larry Klein. Five days later, he was in Los Angeles having breakfast with the iconic producer and jumping right into the recording process at the renowned Village Recorder that has hosted some of Bazini’s heroes – Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye and Johnny Cash. Where I Belong was recorded with a studio filled with some of Bazini’s favourite musicians including, Booker T (organ), Jack Ashford (percussion) and Jay Bellerose (drums). What resulted is a collection of live-sounding Folk/Country and Soul songs that Bazini is excited to share. The first single from the album is “Heavy Love”.
≡ The title track features Bazini singing, “I’m a dreamer, a dreamer dreams you know. There’s so much time to lose, so many roads to choose, sometimes I just wanna stay home and live a normal life where I belong.”
≡ “As the song says, “I’m a dreamer” and I have dreamed for a very long time that I would go to California to produce a record with some of my heroes,” says Bazini. “I have been planning this trip my entire life and I can’t believe that I had this opportunity to record with such amazing musicians.”
≡ To celebrate the release of Where I Belong, Bazini is hitting the road this summer through fall / winter. © Selfy de mon chien Marley #australianshepherd #selfy
